About Me
I am an Ornithologist, Evolutionary Biologist, and Biogeographer passionate about Neotropical Birds and the history of scientific explorations.
In São Paulo, Brazil, as a child, I was always curious about nature and wildlife, but when you live in a city with more than 15 million people, sometimes it can be hard to have any quality time in nature. So, I grasped any chance I had to go to National or State Park near the city. During my undergrad, I had the opportunity to join the Ornithology Section at the Museu de Zoologia da Universidade de São Paulo (MZUSP), where I was a master student and research associate between 2005 and 2014.
In 2015, I joined the Museum of Natural Science at Louisiana State University to work on my Ph. D. with dr. Robb Brumfield advisory. During my time in Louisiana, I created GIS datasets for Amazonian birds at a subspecies level that are now published and can be used in a wide variety of studies with birds from that region.
In 2023, after finishing my doctorate, I joined Michael G. Harvey's Lab at University of Texas at El Paso as a postdoctoral fellow working with suboscine birds. Now, I am currently a research consultant for the Del-Rio lab at the Ornithology collection of the Florida Museum of Natural History, and at the Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas da Amazônia.
